Endless Horizon

What is said is not of much import.  The
Truth will be though I be mute.  Nor do I
Fear my doubt.  I dip my pen in blackest
Ink.  Providence hides not deformity
Nor disease, states itself in war, trade, love
Of power, pleasure, hunger, need.  Coarsely
Write down these facts, the solar system has
No concern about its reputation.
Nothing exceeds the anarchy in our
Skies, hope and fear extend invisible.
These not men but hungers, thirsts, fevers, the
Appetites walking; faith in chemistry,
Meat and wine, wealth, machinery, freak and
Extravagance.  We are not to do, but
Let do.  Not work but be worked on.  We learn
The manners of sun and moon, rivers and
Rains, how to weigh a star’s path.  An eclipse
Is precisely mapped.  History, passion,
Duty open, so the will.  Though freedom
Admitted, primordial atoms are
Figured, every one a magnet, in all.
The universe is secured, and within
Chasm’s flowered slopes an endless horizon.
