Ontological Inquiry

         for MW

So where to go, what to be in?
                        John Ashbery, Sometimes in Places

Out the door—traffic rumbling heavy trucks dancing down Connecticut Ave, six lanes streaming in and out the city.  Did you hear how long silence stood waiting for the green light?  It paused, took a moment to gather itself, and slung along its path at full tilt.  It lives and breathes, has almost capacity for thought, or something like incessant subsonic transactions, transmissions, exchanges, circuits, relays—a moment without end, no where to go, swimming to stay alive, consuming to consume—data, capital, seamless here to there, over and over and over again.  Spiral-ladder ribbons lacing together continuity and chance—always repeated, never the same—channelling information from past to future.  So what to being?
